Most Memorable Movies

Post by jeod on Sun 19 Dec - 5:22:47

Ok I had an idea to have a little fun try to get some more off topic discusions going feel like the off topic mods are getting it to easy. Wink So everybody submit your favorite movies or movies you remember from years ago and enjoyed. Then when we get atleast 20 movies we will have a poll for.... a week on the most memorable movie ever.

My idea for the some of the most memorable movies are as following:
1) The Princess Bride
2) Ghostbusters
3) Karate Kid
4) Caddy shack

Huh? You mean Pick some that will be remembered for year"s" to come? I marked those with an * out to the right side. If there's still too many (probably are) just pick what you need, I can't narrow it down any further, what I cut out was painful enough, lol.

Re: Most Memorable Movies

Post by Alfreredocsil on Thu 23 Dec - 11:30:26

Thanks Jeod thats interesting. I can see why that turned out the way it did, lol.

MD and Durz, Haha, oh my gosh, I never thought of anyone not knowing what Tron is about or ever hearing of it. I forget most of you guys weren't born for another 10-20 years after the original. Evidently the producers of Tron Legacy made the same mistake.

Tron acctually had two story lines, one was inside "The Grid", a digital world (sort of like The Matrix) the other was with the characters outside of the digital world. The digital world was controlled by a super computer (master control program), while outside in reality a man who had stolen original games from the real genius used them to quickly acsend the ranks of the company while the genius turned into a slacker arcade owner.

In an attempt to get the proof he needs to right those wrongs, Flynn breaks into the company and while hacking the computer he gets digitized into the "grid" by Master Control Program who runs the building through automation. Once inside The Grid, Flynn is forced to play in arena games alongside "Tron" who is a security program made by a company employee named Allen who is dating Flynns ex. Tron is the most powerful warrior in The Grid.

Tron and Flynn battle and sneak their way through the grid trying to overthrow master control and get Flynns needed data back out of the grid to reality.

IMb really doesn't have much of a description, you can watch it on this site
HERE

Tron Legacy picks up after Flynn has proven Dillinger stole his games and gets control of the software company. Flynn uses the discovery of "The Grid" to return to it and with the help of Tron and a new program made in Flynn's image named "Clue", build a new digital world. Clue goes haywire and assumes control and Flynn and Tron are overthrown rusulting in Flynn getting trappen inside The Grid for years until his son discovers the grid and accidentally gets digitized himself. Now, the Flynns must escape the grid to the outside world and gain control of the grid through the control panel. Oh along the way some super hot chicks are involved, lol.

The original was a tech break through in movies and special FX in 1982 which overcame the mediocre storyline, much like Tron Legacy is gambling on. Trouble is I didn't really see anything too new and with the produces fail with the younger audience that you pointed out...it may not be nearly as successful as the original. I hope they make a Tron 3 though.

There was one big technological breakthrough. I didnt watch the movie, but apparently, they didnt use special effects on their suits, they were actual lights woven into the fabric. I really want one of those suits with the disk.

Right, well thats not on the same scale of the breakthroughs the original was made of. I'd liken the original Tron technology advancments to the things done in Avitar, or on that scale.

Yeah, and they give very little backstory in Tron Legacy which is proabably a mistake though they give enough to make sense of this new movie I guess. Probably not the best idea playing off of assumed familiarity of a movie that is 29 years old, lol.
